Jaguar Land Rover Operations ‘Severely Disrupted’ by Cyberattack
Jaguar Land Rover says its operations were “severely disrupted” by a cyberattack, with systems disconnected and retail and manufacturing activities hit across its global network. In a brief notice, the company said it proactively shut down systems to contain the incident and is working to restart applications in a controlled manner, while stating there is no evidence that customer data has been stolen.
The disruption affected UK plants and dealer operations, including the Solihull facility, and left UK dealers unable to register new vehicles or supply parts, according to SecurityWeek. The company has not disclosed the attack’s nature, but disconnecting systems for containment is a typical response to ransomware, and SecurityWeek notes the incident came during a peak period for registrations.
This is the second cyberattack JLR has faced this year, with analysts and officials commenting on the broader fragility of increasingly digitalised automotive operations, according to SecurityWeek. 3 September 2025.
