Gemini’s New AI Image Generation Model Prioritizes Consistency, Control, and Trust
Google has announced a new update to its Gemini image-generation model, focusing on AI editing, cross-frame consistency, and creative flexibility, with a visible digital watermark denoting AI origin on every image. One of the marquee improvements is character consistency across iterative edits, allowing the same person to appear in different scenes or outfits without the usual facial drift.
The update also introduces multi-stage image editing, enabling background swaps, object replacements, and layered changes without losing prior adjustments, and it can blend two source images or mine elements from an existing image to generate refined prompts. According to Google, Gemini-generated imagery will include the watermark to promote transparency and traceability and address concerns around deepfakes and misinformation.
When compared with peers like OpenAI’s DALL·E 3, Adobe Firefly, and Stable Diffusion, Gemini’s emphasis on maintaining character fidelity and provenance positions it as a strong option for creators working in sequences.
