User Data Compromised in SoundCloud Hack
According to SoundCloud, hackers accessed certain limited data stored on its systems, including email addresses and information visible on public SoundCloud profiles, while passwords or financial information were not exposed. The company said roughly 20% of its users were affected, with SoundCloud estimating it has well over 100 million users, translating to tens of millions likely impacted.
The incident prompted incident response protocols, and the attackers appear to have been kicked out of the systems, though distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks briefly disrupted the platform’s web version after containment. VPN issues reported by some users were caused by configuration changes implemented in response to the incident. The organisation urged users to remain vigilant for phishing attempts as a precaution. The disclosure was published on 16 December 2025.
