Don’t connect your wallet: Best Wallet cryptocurrency scam is making the rounds
Don’t connect your wallet: Best Wallet cryptocurrency scam is making the rounds, according to Malwarebytes. The scammers impersonated Best Wallet, a service that lets people store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies directly on their own device, with the aim of tricking users into connecting their wallets to a fake site and stealing private keys, seed phrases, or other payment details.
The fake site uses Captcha to evade detection and closely mimics the real Best Wallet, including branding and FAQ content, but the “Connect a Wallet” option leads to a menu of wallets rather than official app-store downloads. Behind the scenes, JavaScript in the page could copy/paste or intercept user inputs during wallet connections or transactions, unlike the legitimate site which directs users to app stores for sensitive actions.
To stay safe, avoid unsolicited texts, verify destinations before clicking shortened URLs, and close any prompt for wallet connection or seed phrases in the browser. If unsure, submit suspicious content to Malwarebytes Scam Guard for guidance.
