Itron detects unauthorised access, triggers cyber response

ITRON , a U.S.-based utility technology provider, disclosed a cyber incident involving unauthorised access to part of its internal IT systems detected on 13 April 2026, with the company activating its incident response plan and notifying law enforcement.

According to the FORM 8-K report filed with the SEC, the company said it had not observed any subsequent unauthorised activity within its corporate systems or in the customer hosted portion of its systems, and that operations were continuing largely unaffected thanks to contingency plans and backups. Itron employs about 4,987 people and reported roughly $2.37 billion in annual revenue in 2025.

The firm noted it is evaluating potential regulatory filings and legal actions as part of its ongoing investigation and does not believe the incident is likely to have a material impact on the company. At present, no ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
