ChatGPT's rivals, Kwai's quiet rise: the top Internet services of 2025
According to Cloudflare Radar Year in Review, Google remained the most popular Internet service globally in 2025, with Facebook and Instagram also featuring in the top ranks across various categories. The report highlights a notable rise for Kwai in emerging markets, where it climbed to #3 in Brazil’s social ranking and secured top 10 placements in several other countries, while X fell out of the Top 20 in the Overall ranking.
In Generative AI, ChatGPT persisted at the forefront, but rivals such as Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and DeepSeek gained traction, with Gemini finishing the year as a strong contender and DeepSeek making a dramatic early entrance. The E-commerce category saw Shopee and Temu join Amazon in the top three, overtaking Taobao and AliExpress, and the financial/crypto sections showed Binance leading the crypto group with OKX surging to #2 by year-end.
Video streaming remained led by YouTube, Netflix, and Twitch, with HBO Max entering the Top 10, while social media patterns shifted, with Instagram ascending and X declining. These trends reflect regional fragmentation, event-driven spikes, and the continuing maturation of AI-driven services across 2025.
