Galaxy S26 Standard Model Gets Thicker: Hinting at a Possible Battery Upgrade
Samsung is reportedly making last-minute changes to the Galaxy S26 standard edition’s physical dimensions, with the new design showing slight increases in height, width and thickness. The final dimensions are 149.5 x 71.6 x 7.24 mm, and the camera module bump raises the overall thickness to 10.44 mm, up from the earlier 6.96 mm specification shared with accessory makers (149.3 x 71.4 x 6.96 mm).
Although the changes appear minor, there is speculation that Samsung may have enlarged the battery capacity to improve life, though the company’s usual cautious approach makes a direct power upgrade uncertain. Compared with the Galaxy S25, the S26 is expected to be taller, wider and slightly thicker, with a flat display and a new oval-shaped rear island module for the triple-camera array.
Production updates indicate that only the OLED panels for the Galaxy S26 Ultra have received manufacturing approval, with full assembly for S26 and S26+ delayed to January 2026 and the Ultra arriving first.
