SimonMed Imaging Data Breach Impacts 1.2 Million
SimonMed Imaging has revealed that a data breach resulting from a ransomware attack has impacted more than 1.2 million individuals, according to the SecurityWeek article. The Medusa ransomware group took credit for the attack on 10 February, claiming to have stolen more than 200 Gb of information. Hackers had access to SimonMed systems between 21 January and 5 February, with data including names, addresses, dates of birth, health and financial details, and authentication credentials reportedly stolen.
SimonMed had previously informed the US Department of Health and Human Services that only 500 individuals were affected, a figure updated in a Maine Attorney General disclosure noting well over 1.2 million impacted. The article notes that, while there is no evidence yet of fraud or identity theft, the risk remains significant due to the potential public leakage or sale of stolen data. Written by Eduard Kovacs and published on 13 October 2025, the piece highlights the ongoing concerns around ransomware‑linked disclosures.
