CALIFORNIA resident Sean Mortazi filed a class action lawsuit against TikTok Inc. on June 11, 2026, claiming a data breach that exposed personal data of over 2.4 billion users. The lawsuit, submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, asserts that TikTok stored unencrypted data and failed to implement basic security measures. Cybercriminals reportedly accessed a TikTok database and shared records of nearly its entire user base on an online forum.

The lawsuit states that the leaked data included names, usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, gender, language preferences, and location data. TikTok has denied the allegations, asserting there is no evidence of a direct system compromise.
