Microsoft Purview innovations for your Fabric data: Unify data security and governance for the AI era
The Microsoft Purview innovations for Fabric, announced at FabCon Vienna, aim to help organisations secure and confidently activate data across their Fabric estate. The European Microsoft Fabric Community Conference runs from 15 to 18 September 2025 in Vienna, with more than 130 breakout sessions, 10 workshops and two keynotes, providing a hub for data, security, governance and AI transformation.
The updates include Microsoft Purview Information Protection policies for Fabric items and Data Loss Prevention for structured data in OneLake, now generally available, plus Insider Risk Management indicators for Power BI within Fabric. Microsoft Purview Data Risk Assessments for Fabric and Data Security Posture Management for AI will help identify overshared data and AI-related risks, while Purview’s Data Security and Compliance controls for Copilot in Power BI enable governance of interactions in Fabric Copilot.
As the article notes, about 99% of organisations have already experienced sensitive data exposure through AI tools, underscoring the need for robust safeguards.
