The pilot, confirmed by X, uses an AI‑generated draft as a starting point which human contributors then assess, adjust, and add evidence to, with the final notes subject to a human review process.
According to official disclosures, the approach aims to re‑engineer the traditional workflow by triggering an AI draft when a note is requested, rather than relying on a tabula rasa synthesis. Keith Coleman, a senior executive overseeing Community Notes, affirmed that Grok powers the intelligence behind the endeavour and that successful iteration could see third‑party AI annotators accessed via API. Presently, access to the functionality is limited to participants with “Top Writer” status, with plans to broaden the evaluative scope in due course.
