Instant Slides: Google Gemini Canvas Can Now Auto-Generate Presentations

Google has introduced a feature in Canvas, the free interactive workspace built into its Gemini AI assistant, that can automatically generate presentation slides through AI. The update marks a significant expansion of Canvas’s capabilities, enabling AI-generated slides that include both text and visuals with themes and contextually relevant images.

Users can trigger slide creation by entering a direct prompt or by uploading source files such as documents, spreadsheets, or research papers, after which Gemini generates a presentation based on the provided content. Once the initial draft is produced, the entire presentation can be exported to Google Slides directly from the Gemini app, with options to continue editing, reformatting, or collaborating in real time.

Google announced that the presentation-generation feature will roll out gradually to both personal Google accounts and Google Workspace users, starting today, 27 October 2025. Originally launched in March this year, Canvas was designed as a space for pasting longer texts or code snippets for Gemini to edit and refine, while offering a visual interface for various prompts.
