Microsoft fixes bug behind Windows certificate enrollment errors

Microsoft has fixed a bug that caused false CertificateServicesClient (CertEnroll) error messages after the July 2025 preview and subsequent Windows 11 24H2 updates. According to Microsoft, the error events shown in Event Viewer can be safely ignored, and there is no impact on Windows processes or active components.

The resolution follows the installation of the July 2025 Windows non-security preview update (KB5062660) and the August 2025 security update, with rollout to commercial devices managed by Microsoft and consumer devices beginning now and expected to complete in about four weeks. The company also noted that the issue was linked to a feature still under development and not yet fully integrated into the operating system.

Microsoft said that after the rollout, all subsequent security and non-security updates will include this fix by default. This marks another instance in recent months where Microsoft has addressed issues triggering incorrect warnings without impacting system functionality.
