Partnering to make full-stack fast: deploy PlanetScale databases directly from Workers
Cloudflare has announced a partnership with PlanetScale to allow Cloudflare Workers to connect directly to PlanetScale databases, enabling full-stack applications backed by Postgres or MySQL. According to Cloudflare Blog, connections are automatically optimised for performance with Hyperdrive, ensuring the fastest access from Workers to databases regardless of where the Workers run.
The integration lets users link their Cloudflare and PlanetScale accounts, creating a Hyperdrive configuration for PlanetScale databases and removing the need to copy and manage credentials back and forth. Starting today, you can connect to PlanetScale databases from the Cloudflare dashboard in a few clicks, with one-click password rotation and secure default settings.
Hyperdrive’s Placement system places the database pool in Cloudflare data centres with the lowest latency to speed up access, and query results can be cached to support high-read workloads. This collaboration aims to make it easy to deploy globally deployed Workers that query, cache, and keep connections warmed to PlanetScale databases; 25 September 2025.
