Attleboro investigating ‘cybersecurity incident’ impacting city’s IT systems

Attleboro is investigating a “cybersecurity incident” that has taken several of the city’s information technology systems offline, according to the city. City leaders say they are working with cybersecurity specialists, the city’s insurer and state and federal partners to identify the cause and begin restoring services.

Public safety services remain operational, and residents are advised to continue calling 911 for emergencies; non-emergency lines include the police department business line at 508-223-2950 and the fire department business line at 508-399-8693. All other phone lines to the City of Attleboro and the Attleboro Police Department are not functioning, and email service is down citywide. As of publication, no group seems to have publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, according to NBC Boston. This update was posted on 21 November 2025.
