NICHIREI Corporation, one of Japan’s largest food companies, experienced a cyberattack on July 13, 2026, disrupting its logistics and operations. The company, known for its frozen food products, confirmed that server outages were due to this attack and has since formed an emergency response team to investigate and restore services. While Nichirei is gradually resuming operations, it is withholding technical details of the breach to mitigate further risks.
Some compromised servers contained personal information, leading to notifications being sent to Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission. Financial impacts are still being assessed, with the company scheduled to release its financial results on August 7.
