A New Way to Pay: Apple Wallet Is Getting a New Security Feature

In iOS 26, Apple has introduced a feature in the Wallet app that lets users securely store the full details of their physical bank cards, including the cardholder’s name, card number, expiration date, and security code. According to Apple, your full card number, expiration date, and security code are encrypted and stored in your iCloud Keychain, visible only to you, and not used for Apple Pay transactions.

The feature is designed for securely viewing or manually entering card details for online payments, rather than enabling direct Apple Pay payments, with linked payment cards still required for transactions. Previously, many users stored card details in password managers, which carried certain security risks, but the Wallet feature offers an alternate, local storage option.

To add details, users must update to iOS 26, open the Wallet app, select a saved card, and follow the Card Details and Add Physical Card Information prompts.
