Watch out for the “We are hiring” remote online evaluator message scam

According to Malwarebytes, the 16 September 2025 post highlights a widespread scam text offering remote online evaluator work under the banner “We are hiring.” The messages, which vary only in background images, claim a salary of $100–$600 per day for 1–2 hours of work and require applicants to be at least 25 years old. Recipients in the United States have reported receiving the texts from different US numbers, and scammers often prompt a reply of “yes” or “interested” to obtain further details.

The piece notes several high‑risk outcomes if targets engage, including advance fee scams, identity theft, money mules or laundering, and phishing to harvest personal or financial data. It offers safety guidelines such as not replying to unsolicited offers, never sharing personal information, and being wary of offers that require upfront payments.

If someone has already interacted with scammers, the article advises stopping communication, not sending money, contacting banks, and considering identity monitoring or police and FTC reporting.
