Cloudflare Outage Crashes the Internet: X, ChatGPT, and Major Websites Inaccessible
Around 12:30 PM GMT on 18 November 2025, a large number of users reported that major global websites, including X and ChatGPT, were inaccessible. According to Tom’s Guide, the likely source of the disruption was a server incident at Cloudflare, which officially acknowledged a severe server issue causing widespread interruptions across many platforms. Windows Central noted that the anomaly coincided precisely with scheduled maintenance for Cloudflare’s Santiago data centre.
The social media site X and OpenAI’s ChatGPT were notably affected, with other services such as Canva, PayPal, and Uber experiencing disrupted features as well. In Cloudflare’s most recent official announcement, the company stated that the issue had been identified and a fix was being implemented, with recoveries for Cloudflare Access and WARP and re-enabled WARP access in London.
Cloudflare emphasised that it processes Internet requests for millions of websites and handles about 78 million HTTP requests per second, underscoring why outages ripple through the wider Internet ecosystem.
