SECURITYWEEK reports that four members of Anonymous Fénix were arrested in Spain for involvement in distributed denial-of-service attacks aimed at government, political, and public websites. The group’s administrator and moderator were arrested last year, and two other members were arrested this month. In May last year, Spain’s Civil Guard arrested two individuals suspected of being the administrator and moderator, and two more members were arrested earlier this month.
Authorities also seized the group’s YouTube and X accounts and closed its Telegram channel. In early February, law enforcement announced the arrest of an individual suspected of launching cyberattacks against over 40 organisations, including NATO, the United Nations, the US Army, and the ICAO. The suspects, who claimed to be part of Anonymous, began their activities in April 2023, with intensified operations from September 2024, including after the Valencia floods.
