Fieldtex Data Breach Impacts 238,000
Fieldtex Products, a US contract sewing and medical supply fulfilment firm, disclosed a data security incident after it was targeted by the Akira ransomware group. The attackers claimed to have stolen more than 14 Gb of data and listed Fieldtex’s E-First Aid Supplies division on their leak site, with the hackers saying they would publish the data “soon”. Fieldtex said it detected unauthorised access in mid-August, with a security notice posted on 20 November.
The health information exposed includes names, addresses, dates of birth, insurance member ID numbers, plan names, effective terms and gender, and the healthcare data breach tracker maintained by the US Department of Health and Human Services revealed the breach impacted 238,615 individuals, according to the tracker.
