NCSC Issues Warning as UK Sees Four Cyber Attacks a Week
NCSC Issues Warning as UK Sees Four Cyber Attacks a Week reports an alarming rise in cyber threats, with an average of four major attacks targeting UK interests weekly. The warning notes that the NCSC handled 429 incidents in the reporting period, of which 18 were classified as highly significant and capable of disrupting essential services.
According to the NCSC, it managed 204 nationally significant cyber attacks in the year ending September 2025, more than double the 89 incidents recorded in the previous twelve months, and highly significant incidents rose by almost 50% year over year. The data indicate that Advanced Persistent Threat actors, including nation-state operatives and sophisticated criminal organisations, were responsible for a substantial portion of incidents investigated by the agency.
Dr Richard Horne, Chief Executive of the NCSC, warned that cyber security has become fundamental to business survival and national resilience, urging leaders to treat resilience as a Board-level priority and to act without hesitation. The report also highlights government collaboration with FTSE350 firms and the Cyber Essentials certification as part of a broader national effort to bolster resilience.
