The Zena Evolution: Linux Mint 22.3 Arrives with Cinnamon 6.6 and Kernel 6.14
Linux Mint 22.3, codenamed Zena, arrives with Cinnamon 6.6 and a Linux kernel 6.14, continuing Mint’s alignment with the Ubuntu LTS line. The release, announced on 19 January 2026, covers Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce editions, and centralises release notes in a single repository rather than separate pages for each variant. Mint 22.3 is predicated upon Ubuntu 24.04.3, thereby inheriting Linux Kernel 6.14 from the Ubuntu 25.04 lineage and removing the need for EDGE images.
Enhancements across the suite include a reimagined System Reports utility now named System Information, and a new System Administration tool for bootloader and menu parameter adjustments. The Cinnamon edition, in particular, benefits from Cinnamon 6.6.4 with a highly configurable application menu, status badges on taskbar icons, and improved fractional scaling options, while Nemo gains paused and resumed file operations and a template manager.
