DOJ Antitrust Review Clears Google’s $32 Billion Acquisition of Wiz

According to SecurityWeek, the United States Department of Justice antitrust review into Google’s planned $32 billion acquisition of Wiz has been cleared, with the deal now expected to close in 2026 subject to customary closing conditions. The article notes that the clearance came via an early termination of the investigation, and that Google said it looked forward to completing the review process in other jurisdictions.

Wiz’s chief executive Assaf Rappaport confirmed at a WSJ Tech Live event that Wiz has cleared the regulatory hurdle and is still on the journey between signing and closing. The piece also highlights that the $32 billion deal is the largest cybersecurity acquisition to date, following similar large tech security purchases by Cisco and Palo Alto Networks. The previously announced deal, first floated in July 2024 with an initial figure of about $23 billion, has thus moved a step closer to completion for 2026.
