MICROSOFT has released the Windows 11 2026 Update, known as version 26H2. For most compatible PCs, the update requires no full reinstall; a small enablement package simply switches on components already present in earlier updates, usually with a single restart.

The update is available to devices running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2, as they share one code base with 26H2. Microsoft is rolling out 26H2 in stages, with an option in Windows Update to receive updates as soon as they are available. Deployments may be paused on devices with known compatibility issues. Changes in 26H2 build on features introduced in 24H2 and 25H2, notably additional Start Menu settings and improvements to the taskbar, search, and File Explorer.

The update also restarts the Windows 11 support clock: Home and Pro editions will receive updates for 24 months, while Enterprise and Education receive 36 months of support. If problems occur, Windows offers a rollback to the previous version. Businesses are advised to test 26H2 on a small cohort before wider deployment.
