Beyond the Terminal: Anthropic Launches a Web-Based Editor for Claude Code
Anthropic is developing a web-based edition of Claude Code, a tool already regarded as one of the most highly rated AI coding assistants that can run in the terminal and work with IDEs such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code and Cursor. The new browser-based editor, still in its research and testing phase, would let developers code from anywhere and streamline workflows by enabling review of task results, auditing code changes, and submitting or merging code.
Interested developers can try the web version at https://Claude[.]ai/code, where access requires first setting up a repository, installing the GitHub Claude application, and submitting the Claude Dispatch workflow file. The article notes that Claude Code access requires a Claude Pro or Claude Max subscription, and that usage quotas and reset policies are subject to limitations, with pricing details advised to be reviewed before subscribing.
The current release is described as a work in progress, aiming to extend Claude Code’s functionality beyond the terminal. The piece also highlights that the web edition could simplify project tasks such as design, codebase comprehension, bug fixing, and feature testing.
