LinkedIn will use your data to train its AI unless you opt out now
LinkedIn plans to share user data with Microsoft and its affiliates for AI training, an approach the article describes as framed as a “legitimate interest” that won’t ask for permission; instead you must opt out. To opt out, the piece directs readers to LinkedIn Settings & Privacy > Data privacy > Data for Generative AI Improvement, then toggle off Use my data for training content creation AI models, with an option to file a Data Processing Objection if desired.
The official statement says that EU, EEA, Switzerland, Canada and Hong Kong members have until 3 November 2025 to opt out, and the article notes there are contradicting statements about whether UK users are affected. It also warns that opting out only stops future training on new data and does not retract data already used, and it suggests reviewing older posts and profiles to reduce exposure. The data LinkedIn might share is described as including profile data, job-related data, the content you posted, and feedback.
