HACKERS targeted Poland’s National Centre for Nuclear Research, but security systems detected the intrusion and blocked it before any damage occurred. The centre stated that no production, research, or operational activities were disrupted and that the MARIA reactor continues to operate at full power. In the press release, the NCBJ emphasised the rapid and effective actions of its security systems and teams in thwarting the attack and protecting the integrity of its IT infrastructure.
The government is coordinating its response with several bodies, including NASK-PIB, the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski, and the Ministry of Energy. According to Reuters, signs point to Iran as a possible origin behind the attempted breach, though officials cautioned that such indicators could be misdirection.
The Italian author Pierluigi Paganini notes that the centre is monitoring the situation continuously and remains prepared to respond to further attempts to breach Poland’s critical infrastructure. According to Reuters.
