Jaguar Land Rover says cyberattack ‘severely disrupted’ production

On 2 September 2025, Jaguar Land Rover said a cyberattack forced the company to shut down certain systems as part of its mitigation efforts. The statement notes that while the incident appears to have a significant impact on production and retail operations, there is no evidence that any customer data has been stolen.

According to the official statement, JLR “took immediate action to mitigate its impact by proactively shutting down our systems” and is now working at pace to restart global applications in a controlled manner. Responding to media queries, JLR said the attack occurred over the weekend, which forced it to shut down several systems, including those at the Solihull production plant where the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover, and Range Rover Sport are built.

Initial reports came from UK dealers unable to register new cars or supply parts at service points, and BleepingComputer says it has contacted the automaker for more information. The company has not provided a timeline for returning to normal operations, and at the time of writing no ransomware gangs had taken responsibility.
