GOOGLE has announced Gemini AI integration within Google Calendar to autonomously scan participant schedules and identify the best window for meetings, aiming to cut down on calendar purgatory. When creating a new event, users can choose a “Suggested times” option, after which Gemini reviews the availability of all invitees and surfaces intervals that align with everyone’s timetable.
The system also handles rescheduling: if key participants decline, Gemini detects the disruption and proposes a new time when all attendees are available, reducing back-and-forth messages. Access to this AI concierge is subject to permissions to view attendees’ calendars and is primarily for internal organisational coordination; for external, cross-corporate engagements where calendar transparency is restricted, the feature remains dormant.
It is available only to subscribers of specific Google Workspace and Google AI Pro for Education tiers, i.e., Google Workspace Business (Standard and Plus), Google Workspace Enterprise (Standard and Plus), and Google AI Pro for Education.
