Search Gets Personal: Google Integrates Gmail and Photos into AI Mode

GOOGLE has announced the integration of “Personal Intelligence” into its Search AI Mode, enabling the AI to interpret a user’s Gmail and Google Photos content to deliver bespoke responses grounded in personal history. According to Google, the system can, for example, tailor fashion advice from past receipts or curate travel wardrobe suggestions based on flight or lodging confirmations.

At the core of this feature is the Gemini 3 model, and Google clarifies that individual Gmail inboxes and photo libraries are not used for model training, with prompts and AI-generated responses subject to optimisation processes. The functionality exists as an experimental endeavour within Google Labs, with availability limited to the United States and the English language interface, and access restricted to Google AI Pro or Ultra subscribers. Only personal Google accounts are supported, excluding Workspace enterprises.
