$10M reward for Russia’s FSB officers accused of hacking US Critical infrastructure
According to Rewards for Justice, the United States Department of State is offering up to $10 million for information leading to the identification of Russia’s FSB officers Pavel Aleksandrovich Akulov, Mikhail Mikhailovich Gavrilov and Marat Valeryevich Tyukov, who are accused of hacking US critical infrastructure and more than 500 energy firms worldwide.
The indictment alleges that the officers sought to obtain and maintain unauthorized persistent access to hundreds of U.S. and international energy companies, enabling the Russian government to disrupt and damage such facilities. It also notes that the three officers, members of the FSB’s Center 16 unit, targeted more than 380 foreign energy-sector companies in 135 countries and were linked to campaigns identified as Dragonfly and Dragonfly 2.0 during two phases from 2012 to 2017.
The article recalls that the FBI warned in August 2025 about Russia-linked Static Tundra exploiting SNMP and an unpatched vulnerability in Cisco Smart Install to target organisations, with the FBI alert emphasising the threat posed by the FSB’s Center 16.
