Apple Seeks Researchers for 2026 iPhone Security Program
Apple has kicked off the application period for the 2026 Security Research Device Program, with white hat researchers able to apply until 31 October. Through the Security Research Device Program, or SRDP, eligible researchers receive an iPhone that enables iOS security analysis without bypassing normal security features, and accepted applicants get shell access to run tools and receive early previews of software and security projects.
The devices are provided under a 12-month renewable loan and are not intended for personal use. Apple says only researchers with a proven track record of finding security issues on Apple platforms or other modern operating systems are eligible, and vulnerabilities discovered qualify for a reward under Apple’s bug bounty programme, which in 2024 was linked to over 100 reports and included multiple $500,000 rewards with a median around $18,000.
SecurityWeek notes that the exact iPhone model for 2026 was not specified on Apple’s SRDP page, but the firm hints the candidates are likely the iPhone 16 or the upcoming iPhone 17.
