Global law enforcement operation targets AISURU, Kimwolf, JackSkid botnet operators

ACCORDING to DoJ press release, the U.S. Department of Justice disrupted command-and-control infrastructure used by several IoT botnets, including AISURU, Kimwolf, JackSkid, and Mossad Internet of Things botnets. The operation involved authorities from Canada and Germany, along with major tech companies, to target botnet operators and weaken their global cybercrime activities.

The four botnets launched DDoS attacks targeting victims worldwide, with some attacks measuring approximately 30 Terabits per second, described as record-breaking. U.S. authorities seized domains, servers, and infrastructure used in cybercrime, and the disrupted botnets had infected over 3 million devices worldwide, mainly IoT such as cameras and routers.

The AISURU, JackSkid, Kimwolf, and Mossad botnets reportedly issued thousands of attack commands—over 200,000 for AISURU, 90,000 for JackSkid, 25,000 for Kimwolf, and over 1,000 for Mossad.
