Mozilla Says It’s Finally Done With Two-Faced Onerep
Mozilla has announced that its partnership with Onerep will officially end next month, with Mozilla saying it will soon discontinue Monitor Plus, which offered data broker site scans and automated personal data removal from Onerep. The wind-down period runs until 17 December 2025, after which current Monitor Plus subscribers will automatically receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of their subscription.
The advisory adds that Mozilla will continue to offer its free Monitor data breach service, which is integrated into Firefox’s credential manager, and focuses on integrating more privacy and security experiences in Firefox, including its VPN, for free. The move follows a March 2024 KrebsOnSecurity investigation showing Onerep’s Belarusian CEO and founder Dimitiri Shelest launched dozens of people-search services since 2010, and maintained an ownership stake in Nuwber, a data broker he founded in 2015.
