1.2 Million Impacted by WestJet Data Breach
According to SecurityWeek, Canadian airline WestJet notified roughly 1.2 million people that their personal information was stolen in a June 2025 cyberattack. The company said it was hit on 13 June, with the incident affecting the availability of its application and website, and later confirmed that personal data had indeed been stolen.
The breached data includes names, addresses, dates of birth, government-issued ID details, and other travel-related information, with WestJet Rewards members possibly seeing their membership details and point balances affected. For WestJet RBC Mastercard holders, information such as credit card identifier type and changes to point balances might also have been impacted, though WestJet notes that credit card numbers, expiry dates, CVV codes, and guest user passwords were not compromised.
The airline is offering 24 months of free monitoring, identity theft protection, and fraud assistance, including up to $1 million of expense reimbursement insurance.
