Ambulances diverted as Signature Healthcare faces cyberattack

SIGNATURE Healthcare in Brockton, Massachusetts, has diverted ambulances after a cyberattack caused significant disruptions. The organisation runs Brockton Hospital, a 200-bed community hospital, and the Signature Medical Group, which employs more than 150 physicians across 15 locations. It reported responding to a cybersecurity incident on Monday, with inpatient care and walk-in emergency services remaining open, but ambulance traffic still being diverted on Tuesday.

Down-time procedures were activated to protect patient safety and care, and while surgeries and procedures were not impacted, chemotherapy infusion services have been cancelled and patients were warned of potential delays at Signature Medical Group and urgent care practices. Some retail pharmacies were closed on Monday and reopened on Tuesday but were unable to fill prescriptions.
