Wiz Joins Google Cloud as Landmark Acquisition Closes

GOOGLE has completed its $32 billion all-cash acquisition of Wiz, with the cloud security firm set to keep its brand as it joins Google Cloud on 11 March 2026. Wiz will continue to provide cybersecurity solutions for AWS, Azure and Oracle Cloud, and its technology is described as enabling Google to significantly enhance its cloud security capabilities.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said the combined offering would deliver an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that detects, prevents and responds to threats across all environments.

The deal also secures substantial payouts for Wiz’s backers and staff: Index Ventures, with a 12% stake, is on track to collect roughly $3.8 billion, Sequoia Capital about $3.2 billion, and Insight Partners around $2.9 billion; Wiz’s 1,800 employees hold equity valued at roughly $3 billion, while Google has committed $1.5 billion in retention bonuses for staff who stay post‑acquisition. According to Calcalist, the arrangement further expands the economic upside for Wiz’s international investors. Google Cloud is already home to Mandiant, which it acquired in 2022 for $5.4 billion.
