ClaimPix Data Leak Exposes 5 Million Customer Records

ClaimPix Data Leak Exposes 5 Million Customer Records, reported by DataBreaches[.]Net, involved an unencrypted and non-password-protected database that contained 5.1 million files totalling 10 TB. According to Website Planet, the publicly exposed database was not password-protected or encrypted and held 5,170,256 files and images, including insurance and registration documents containing PII such as names, physical addresses, phone numbers and emails.

The dataset also encompassed just under 16,000 powers of attorney documents, which impart the authority to manage vehicle matters, and these documents were signed electronically with the IP addresses of the signatories. Additionally, the database contained internal documents like software license agreements and other information that should not have been publicly exposed, including vehicle VIN numbers, year, make and model details.
