Google Exposes Russian Disinformation Blitz Over Poland Airspace Incursion Using Portal Kombat Network

Google’s Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) has uncovered multiple coordinated pro-Russia information operations exploiting the September 9–10, 2025 drone incursion into Polish airspace, according to Google. These campaigns—run by networks such as Portal Kombat, Doppelganger, and Niezależny Dziennik Polityczny (NDP)—aim to deflect blame from Russia, discredit NATO, and undermine public trust in the Polish government.

Portal Kombat, also known as the “Pravda Network,” has operated since at least 2024 as a network of fake media sites amplifying Russian state propaganda across multiple regions. In the wake of the drone incident, Portal Kombat outlets published articles arguing the drones could not have come from Russia, accusing Polish and Baltic officials of politicising the incident, and implying Europe’s defence focus would shift inward.

GTIG highlighted four main influence objectives emerging after the incident: promoting a positive Russian image, blaming NATO and the West, undermining confidence in the Polish government, and weakening international support for Ukraine. The report stresses that Russia’s information operations are highly adaptive, using established propaganda channels to exploit crises within hours.
