Google Translate Debuts Gemini-Powered “Advanced” Mode for Higher Accuracy Translations

Google has begun integrating deeper Gemini model capabilities into its Google Translate service, with a new translation model option that lets users choose between the standard “Fast” mode and the Gemini-powered “Advanced” mode. According to Google, the Fast mode will retain speed and efficiency, while Advanced mode engages Gemini AI to focus on precision.

This means translations in Advanced mode may take slightly longer but should deliver greater accuracy and contextual fluency, with reports noting the quality is already comparable to using Gemini directly for translation tasks. Users are cautioned about potential AI hallucinations that could introduce inaccuracies or misleading content.

At present, the Gemini-powered Advanced mode supports only a limited number of languages during its initial rollout, and Google has not disclosed the full list, planning to gradually expand language support to balance speed and linguistic precision. November 5, 2025.
