Hacker pleads guilty to hacking Supreme Court, AmeriCorps, and VA Systems
Nicholas Moore, 24, from Springfield, Tennessee, pleaded guilty to repeatedly hacking the U.S. Supreme Court’s electronic filing system and to accessing AmeriCorps and VA Health System accounts, according to DoJ. Court documents reveal he used his Instagram account to leak data from several of his victims, posting screenshots and personal information on @ihackedthegovernment across August to October 2023.
Between September 14 and October 14, 2023, he accessed a veteran’s VA MyHealthEVet account using stolen credentials and stole private health data, which he likewise posted publicly. He faced a one-count information charging him with fraud activity in connection with computers, a Class A misdemeanor, with potential penalties of up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000, to be determined at sentencing on 17 April by Judge Beryl A. Howell. The plea followed disclosures that Moore hacked the Supreme Court at least 25 times and publicly exposed the data of his victims via social media.
