Paris raid on X focuses on child abuse material allegations

French prosecutors, with France’s National Gendarmerie and Europol support, raided X’s Paris offices as part of a criminal probe into alleged illegal content, including child sexual abuse material; the probe began in January after complaints that X aided possession and distribution of such material. Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino have been summoned for voluntary interviews in Paris in April, with Musk describing the investigation as a political attack.

According to Global Government Affairs, French judicial authorities raided X’s Paris office today in connection with a politicised criminal investigation into alleged manipulation of algorithms and purported fraudulent data extraction. Prosecution officials said company employees must testify, though no charges have been filed.

UK authorities are also examining sexual deepfakes created by Grok on X, while Ofcom is called to act but reportedly lacks powers over chatbots; the EU is coordinating with France over X’s efforts with xAI.
