Anthropic files for an IPO that could raise up to $100 billion

Anthropic has filed for what could be the biggest initial public offering in history, with the company planning a Nasdaq listing under the ticker ANT. The Associated Press reports that the San Francisco-based AI firm, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI leaders, is seeking a large raise to fuel expansion and heavyweight investments in AI infrastructure, despite continuing losses.

The company’s 335-page regulatory filing shows revenue surpassing $16 billion in the first half of 2026, a fourteenfold increase on the prior year’s comparable period, yet it remains unprofitable. Private valuations have floated around $965 billion earlier this year, with some speculation suggesting a potential rise to as high as $2 trillion, though the final valuation and offering price are not yet established.

The filing indicates the offering could bring in up to $100 billion and notes ownership dynamics among the seven founders, including chief executive Dario Amodei and co-founder Daniela Amodei, who stand to gain substantial personal wealth if the deal reaches the top end of expectations.

The document also highlights significant risk factors related to AI safety.

It describes potential scenarios in which malicious actors misuse AI models to construct harmful capabilities or authoritarian regimes deploy AI for repression, and it warns that AI models could “pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity.” The filing references a broader call to slow AI development to allow safety measures to catch up, and notes ongoing tensions with the U.S. government following a supply chain risk designation and related litigation.

The Associated Press notes that Anthropic promotes itself as prioritising safety and responsible development amid these regulatory and competitive pressures. Oct 26, 2026.
