Canadian Man Arrested for Operating Kimwolf Botnet

THE US Justice Department announced the arrest of Jacob Butler, a 23-year-old Canadian national known online as 'Dort', for allegedly operating the Kimwolf DDoS botnet. He is charged with aiding and abetting computer intrusion and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Authorities linked Butler to the botnet through various evidence including IP addresses and transaction records. Kimwolf reportedly compromised around 2 million devices and was involved in record-breaking DDoS attacks. The same enforcement actions also disrupted numerous DDoS-for-hire platforms that supported the botnet.
