Windows 11 Agenda View is Back, But Built on WebView 2 with Performance Overhead

Windows 11 Agenda View is back, but not as a native feature; Microsoft is rebuilding it with the WebView 2 Runtime, a move that comes with noticeable performance overhead. According to Windows Latest, preview builds show that enabling the agenda view instantly spawns multiple WebView 2 processes in Task Manager, with the core UI process, Windows Shell Experience Host, jumping to 6%–20% CPU before gradually dropping.

The findings suggest Microsoft loads Outlook meeting data via WebView 2 and embeds it into the agenda panel, effectively synchronising Windows 11’s schedule view with Outlook through this method. WebView 2 is widely disliked for reducing the fluidity and performance of apps compared with native implementations, though its development costs are lower, which partly explains the shift.

The article notes an additional incentive: WebView 2 makes it easier to integrate Microsoft 365 Copilot, with claims that Copilot will be embedded directly into the agenda view and that Teams meetings can be joined from the schedule panel, a trade‑off Microsoft appears willing to accept.
