RESEARCHERS from Human Security's Satori Threat Intelligence Team have highlighted the rising threat of AI-enhanced phone fraud, revealing that fraudsters can easily build phone farms using off-the-shelf kits for as little as $2,790 per month.

Their report, 'FunFoneFarm and the Off-the-Shelf Scam Economy,' details the components of these operations, including readily available hardware, cloud phone services, orchestration software, and an AI layer that automates conversations, significantly lowering the barriers to entry for scammers.

This model allows for scalable operations, turning once sophisticated scams into easily accessible ventures for casual fraudsters, while contributing to the estimated $19 billion annual cost of cyber-enabled fraud in the UK.
