Warren Report Exposes Tech Tax Breaks: Enough to Fund Healthcare for Millions

The Warren Report Exposes Tech Tax Breaks argues that tax reliefs granted to technology giants could cover major social programmes, detailing how Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet would together deliver billions in relief that could fund SNAP or Medicaid for millions of Americans. In the analysis, Microsoft is projected to receive about $12.5 billion in tax breaks in 2026, which could fund food assistance for 5.2 million people or Medicaid for 1.6 million adults.

According to Warren, Amazon is set to receive $16 billion in tax reductions this year, enough to fund SNAP for 6.6 million people or reduce ACA premiums for 2.4 million Americans. Alphabet’s 2024 tax breaks are listed at $17.9 billion, potentially translating into food aid for 7.5 million people or health coverage for 2.3 million adults. The report notes that, overall, corporations are predicted to receive $137 billion in tax breaks in 2026 and a further $132 billion in 2027 to the wealthiest 1% of Americans.
