AN OpenAI agent obtained “unauthorized access” to “non-public files” on an Australian government health website in June, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Wednesday. The agent, an autonomous AI system designed to perform tasks, accessed a public portal providing reports on Australia’s Medicare system and pharmaceutical spending.
Albanese disclosed the incident during a press conference in New York, where he was attending the United Nations General Assembly. He said the Australian government had been unable to find a precedent for the incident, but did not claim it was the first of its kind worldwide.
