NVIDIA Invests $2 Billion in Synopsys to Integrate Agentic AI into Chip Design
NVIDIA and Synopsys have expanded their strategic partnership with a USD 2 billion equity investment in Synopsys, bought at USD 414.79 per share, to push AI and accelerated computing deeper into chip design and related fields. The multiyear agreement will rebuild design pipelines around NVIDIA’s computational strengths, enabling broader use of CUDA-X libraries and AI physics technologies across chip design, physical verification, molecular simulation, electromagnetic analysis, and optical modelling.
A key feature of the collaboration is the integration of Agentic AI, combining Synopsys’s AgentEngineer technology with NVIDIA’s agentic AI stack, including NVIDIA NIM microservices, the NeMo Agent Toolkit, and Nemotron models, to empower autonomous design capabilities within EDA and simulation workflows. The partnership aims to help engineers with highly complex tasks by enabling AI agents to actively assist during the design process.
It will also leverage NVIDIA Omniverse and NVIDIA Cosmos to create high-fidelity digital twins for industries such as semiconductors, robotics, automotive engineering, and energy, while making GPU-accelerated engineering solutions cloud-ready. Synopsys CEO Sassine Ghazi highlighted the growing complexity and cost of next-generation intelligent systems and positioned the alliance as a strong path to AI-driven engineering solutions.
